Description

I wanted to make something completely different, so here is my first purple space wallpaper :XD:

The original concept is fairly complex: It's supposed to be a minature electric sun being attracted to a planet

Like all of my space wallpapers, this has been created using Photoshop, with my own rock textures and fractals.

Enjoy!

Initially, I feel the need to say that this deviation of yours is mind-blowing. You've had some amazing planetary artwork in the past, but I feel this is your best one to date. The quality of this artwork makes it plain that you worked hard on this with your abundant aptitude of techniques.

First impressions: I looked at this as a thumb and it reminded me of those electrostatic globes that you touch and they make your hair stand on end. When I full-viewed it, it still reminded me of that. Thus, I feel the title of this deviation is quite appropriate.

Now for my critique: I never mastered designing planets in Photoshop, so please take my advice with a grain of salt.
I really like the way the small planet is designed, both shape and textures used.
The large planet has a different texture and shape and I'm going to critique those. On the large planet, it looks like there is a sudden angle in the lower left hand side, where it deviates from the spherical shape. At first i thought the deviation in shape was caused by the light reflection in that quadrant, but it appears that the atmospheric reflections are mirrored in the opposing quadrant and everything looks fine in the upper left quadrant.
Also, in the lower right quadrant it looks like a massive wave sweeping across the planet. It could be clouds I suppose, but I felt it looked a little weird with the surface texture you used on the large planet.
In closing, I would like to declare that it has been a treat to invest energy in this criticism for you. I look forward to seeing many more masterful pieces from you.
