Impulse Dreamscene by Stamga Impulse Dreamscene by Stamga
Dreamscenes are probably a little outdated, but I always wanted to make one.
So I combined my Apophysis, Photoshop and After Effects skills to make this unbelievably sleek animated wallpaper.

Video Preview: [link]

Install instructions:
1. Download the DreamScene Activator for W7: [link]
2. Open it and turn it on
3. Download the ZIP file for my animation
4. Extract the ZIP file
5. Right-click the ''Impulse Dreamscene - 1920 x 1080.wmv'' file and click on "Set as Desktop Background''
Enjoy!

Dreamscenes? Outdated?
Sure, they're not a new thing, but I still love using them.

I just learned how to enable DreamScene for Windows 7 today and then did some browsing for more scenes here on DA. I'm SO GLAD yours shows up in the link. Simple, beautiful, and not annoying. More, more!

Do you have the JPG files that originally built this? I have no clue on how to break down a WMV into it's individual frames. :(
I downloaded an automated windows script that takes the images, does all the coding for me and tosses them into an APK and signs them too.
If you have those, that would be great if you can send them to me in a note.

No, there are no individual JPG files, though I could render each of the individual frames into a JPG sequence.
I would rather do it myself though :P
Could I have the link to the script?

This is what I was going to follow.

I'll be more then willing to test it out for you.

Thanks a lot.
I managed to transform it into an APK, but since I have rendered the images at a high resolution (720x1280) for my phone, the wallpaper crashes.

I'll try it again with a lower resolution and I'll let you know. :)

Actually, reading up, it seems pretty simple as there are automated scripts for Windows that do all the work (expect images) for you.

Any chance I could get the source for this? I want to try it.

No, unfortunately.
It was a lot of work for a simple animated wallpaper and not many people use them anymore :P

Doesn't seem to want to work on my system.

I can't select "Set as desktop background". I can only select "Set as DreamScene". And it doesn't change the background. :/

That is odd.
Do you have Windows 7 with the app linked above?

Yeah. I have Windows 7 HP with the activate Dreamscene from Door2Windows. :( Even did a restart. Didn't work. It shows my static image I have previously.

Hmmm.. Are you sure it's the latest Dreamscene app?
He had done other versions previously that had issues like this, but the new one should work perfectly.

Yeah, it is. I downloaded it from Door 2 Windows right after downloading this. I never saw any reason to turn it on, but this peaked my interest. I can't even select it in Personalization-> Wallpaper. I used to be able to on this machine. But I did a reformat and I've been finding things that used to work, no longer do. Like Windowblinds. Used to work, but now it doesn't. :/

Huh, that is really odd.
There is probably a conflict between some of your customization applications.

Do you have the latest Windows 7 updates? What about SP1?

Windows 7 SP1, all updates applied and 100% legally purchased.

Customization apps:
Universal Theme Patcher.
TBarIconBlanker.
Windows 7 Navigation Buttons Customizer.
Windows 7 Start Orb Changer.
IconPackager (Paid for, not hacked.)
DreamScene Activator.
Rainmeter and ObjectDock+. (Paid for, not hacked.)

I've just reread this. You made that with Apophysis? How?! :o

Yes, I made the base fractal with Apophysis, Photoshop and After Effects:

- I started by generating a fractal to my taste, and then I used a JPEG
sequence exporter script to generate about 200 images in a loop.

- After, I used the first image and created a cool blue composition in
Photoshop using it, and I exported my layers to After Effects.

- In After Effects, I used the JPEG sequence to replace my normal
fractal layer that I had used earlier, and I added some lens flares to
make it cooler.

- I finally adjusted the lighting and added some glows, and finally
exported it to a looped WMV.

It sounds complicated, and it was, but the result was above my expectations ;P

I was gonna say, that looks way too awesome for something 100% Apophysis. =p
I'll try something like that. Minus the animating bit. =p

Yes, yes, yes!!! I just got an Alienware last Wednesday as a gift from Dad. After installing my usual arsenal of programs and transferring all my stuff over, I though of something. I could finally use Dreamscene, something I've always wanted to d, but couldn't on my crappy old computer! And then you release this. It was literally perfect timing. Wow.

I love it. Great work!! :D :+fav:
